JJ Harris accepted the position of Executive Director of the Bedford Urban Enterprise Association (BUEA) in February of 1995. Jamie's duties as director range from coordinating and implementing the urban enterprise program following prescribed state and local policies, procedures, and guidelines established by the local BUEA, to directing the zone business development program, to serving as liaison with City and State Zoning Boards, and with the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in preparing performance reports and financial statements as needed, to monitoring and compiling statistical reports for grant giving institutions.

Prior to Jamie's tenure with BUEA, he held the position of Bailiff with the Lawrence Circuit Court in Bedford, Indiana, for 4 years. Jamie acquired his BSBA in 1995 and his MSM in 1998 from Indiana Wesleyan University. He obtained his license as real estate broker in 2000 and is an associate with Williams Realty. He attended Indiana Military Academy at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, and the Armor's Officer Basic Course at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He is Graduate of the 2004 Ball State Basic Economic Development Course and the 2005 University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute (EDI)

Beth Snead is a Program Manager for the BUEA. She has been with the enterprise zone association since September of 2000. She works as a residential program manager. She on the intergenerational garden project at 4th and H Streets. She utilizes various civic groups and volunteers each year to finish out the season. Beth acquired a garden grant which provided gardening tools and seeds. Beth also coordinates youth initiatives projects which provides small grants to various youth groups for field trips and educational programs. She works with many different projects and programs. This position requires a vast amount of research for grants and projects.

Penny May accepted the position of Executive Director for BRI (Bedford Revitalization, Inc.) and started her duties on November 3, 2003. Penny's enthusiasm for this community and her creativity are factors that have definitely enhanced the mission of BRI. Penny coordinates activity of downtown revitalization, manages all administration aspects of the downtown program, develops downtown economic development strategies, develops action plans for implementation with downtown revitalization programs, and manages a rehabilitated historic building that contains one retail area and 4 apartments. She coordinates the annual 4th of July parade, coordinates the lighting of the downtown and the courthouse lighting ceremony, and oversees Harp Commons with plans in the making for various activities to take place at this downtown park. Penny is utilizing her creativity to expand the Mums the Word project.
